Founded in 1997 by the late John “Butch” Nash, the company has remained a family run business and continuously employs a highly trained and professional team of drivers, operators, office staff and waste transfer specialists, all from the local area.
We are located on the Isle of Portland, in the beautiful county of Dorset, the company has expanded and grown from its humble beginnings, whilst maintaining the community-based ethic implanted by our founder. Whilst we provide service for the whole county, our roots and our origin are forever part of our identity.
We run an extensive fleet of heavy good vehicles of various sizes, including skip loaders, hook loaders, grab lorries, tippers and articulated vehicles. We also use trailers with some of our vehicles to help minimise vehicle movements and keep our efficiency at a high rate.
We are fully committed to minimising the waste deposited at landfill sites. We have invested in a fully automated, state-of-the-art picking station which enables us to recycle more than 95% of all inbound waste. By taking care of our environment and controlling our waste today, we are securing a more positive future for those generations to come.
Portland Stone LTD also operates an Aggregate Collection Depot in Weymouth. Here, customers are welcome to view, purchase and collect a wide range of impeccable decorative and building aggregates, along with a full range of landscaping products.
